What can I expect from a yoga class with Anahata Yoga?In Hatha, we seek to find a balance of the polarities inside each one of us. The focus is on moving your body slowly and consciously, putting special emphasis on the breath and developing that body-breath connection. I like to open up my practice with a mantra and a silent moment to arrive at your mat, then get started with an active breath work/Pranayama. Depending on my students' needs, I spend more or less time with warm-up exercises, integrating some Vinyasa or Sun Salutations/Surya Namaskar to increase flexibility and amplify the range of movement. Then we are ready to move onto the more therapeutic work of postures/Asanas, concluding the session with Savasana and other relaxation techniques to settle the body and mind, and finally closing the practice with a mantra and a moment of silence. All my classes are inspired by three principles of Yoga: Effort, self-knowledge, and trust.

How does yoga contribute to stress reduction and mental well-being?Yoga reduces stress by combining physical postures, controlled breathing, and mindfulness. The practice activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and lowering levels of the stress hormone, Cortisol in the body. Regular yoga cultivates self-awareness, enhancing emotional resilience. Mindful movements and meditation alleviate anxiety, while the focus on the present moment fosters mental well-being. The holistic nature of yoga offers a sanctuary for individuals to release tension, find balance, and nurture their mental health.
